The Five-Point Philosophy:
A Balanced Curriculum

Comprehension is the reason for reading. To understand text one must read fluently from word to word and line to line using appropriate tone and following punctuation. To read fluently one must be able to automatically decode words and know which letter combinations represent which sound.

Reading Revolution™ provides balance, meaning that all lesson plans include activities in all of the reading skill areas: Sound Recognition, Word Recognition, Spelling, and Fluency and Comprehension. When these four skills are integrated, they provide a well-balanced lesson.






The Reading Revolution system uses a range of methods to teach new readers of every learning style, including such techniques as the following:

• Interactive games
• Large motor movements to reinforce sounds and word recognition
• A consistent way to decode and spell complex words
• Logical and critical thinking skills
• A variety of comprehension strategies including visualization techniques, formulation of questions while reading, and an alternative way to take notes using symbols and sketches
